Beltane for me is one of the most important Sabbats a Witch can celebrate, Fertility, The symbolic fires that remind us how important the warmth of the Sun is to Mother Earth which is needed to grow the seeds and eventually bring new life.

What Does Beltane mean to you, how will you celebrate this beautiful Sabbat?

Write your thoughts and feelings down and share it here, even if you dont intend to celebrate it, we would like to know your thoughts on it so this comp really is for everyone. Goodluck, theres a prize for anyone who takes part.  Grin

Blessings

Hi Kethry.... No need of a prize here ( for me anyway) The awakening of the bears in the wild to the farmers planting the seed. New growth over the land is the real CELABRATION. For the last 10 years I have planed Cosmos flowers in my garden, last year celebrating  my first Beltane, I picked my Cosmos flowers and left a small basket of them at my neighbors door ( The neighbors that said they were Pagan but were not , they were just curious about me!!) This year I'm taking my Cosmos to the Assisted living home to share with some of my friends that have no family,or have outlived everyone else!! The energy that I personally get feels kind of selfish, but I hope the feeling that they get is one of not feeling so alone. I think it must be hard for some(older folks) looking at spring and knowing that your winter is coming soon. I wish everyone on the up coming Beltane much joy and prosparity.................. Blessed Be... mrsburd

Winter is the Goddess' gift.
It's given to us to bring us together. In the old days of tribes and family clans we would gather together in tight groups to survive.  We hunted together.Worked through the coldness and storms together and in some instances died together. But through the harshness of winter and it's dangers, we knew one another and loved each other.

The Goddess has always offered hope. Hope is each morning's gift. But to prove that gift and to help us understand what hope truly is, She gave us spring. The time of hope and the time of renewal. Spring to have babies, spring to plant seed. She gave us the planter's moon, the fisher's moon and the hunter's moon so that we could see well at night and bring home... hope.

Abundance comes from hard work. We have worked our way as a family or as a person through the harshness of winter. We have seen winter's beauty and known the fears that beauty brings. We have been cold and huddled together to stave it off. Now we work to gather the riches of spring and summer. The trials begin again soon but for now we kiss the sun. We grow as the grain grows and we love as the mother loves.

There is no greater gift then what gathers in the spring to witness renewal for all beings.  Warmer waters bring more fish. Warmer waters bring richness and moisture to the soil to feed the grasses. Grasses grow to kiss the sun, Flowers grow for the same reason. And all beings share their bounty. As the grass grows it feeds the herds. As the flowers bloom so do bees feed and butterflies gather to join the richness in offering. Herds now stronger feed those that would hunt and feed from them.

The cycle of renewal begins and continues through the next sleeping and winter. The goddess watches and smiles on all of her children. She trusts us humans with the stewardship and protection of those that will need our help. Above all, the Goddess offers in her own soft way, her wish. That wish is that in all things. all tasks and with the reward of hope, we all be blessed.

As for me and my family. My wives, my farm and all those that live and will grow on my soil and from my soil. We offer the Goddess one wish. In all things, be blessed.
