Yule is a winter festival historically celebrated primarily in northern Europe but now celebrated in many other countries in various forms.Yule is the time of the winter solstice, when the sun child is reborn. Celebrations often coincide with Christmas. Yule traditions include decorating a fir or spruce tree, burning a Yule log, hanging mistletoe and holly branches, giving gifts, and general celebration and merriment.

Statement of purpose

We gather today to rejoice in the birth of the Sun God, with the promise that the days will from today grow longer, we give thanks also to the Goddess for baring this gift to us, her grief and darkness now lightened with the birth of her Son.

YULE

Dearest Mother resting deeply
underneath the frozen earth
your time has come upon you
we await our Father's birth

Look! His chariot awaits him
with his horses readied there
They are waiting now to take him
Up the heavens winding stair.

For there awaits his birthright
and his shining golden throne
King of our Sun's fire bright
Crowned be he and he alone!

Lo! Dawn breaks with new vigor
Now darkness bows to day
Warmth to kiss away the rigor
of winter's deathly sway!

Dearest Mother how we thank thee
For thy Labor and thy care!
You have brought forth new divinity
Our Father bold and fair!

Rest now Mother from your trial
hear our loving voices sing
sleep with contented smile
you have given us a king!

But unbroken.
May the peace of the Goddess
be ever in your heart.
Merry Meet,
And Merry Part,
And Merry Meet again.

May the Lord and Lady bless you this Yule and every day

Well Everyone, It's that time of the year again Grin!! Kethry gave us this post awhile ago and I thought I'd bring it here again.......... This is my first year in the woods ..so to speak, and it's cold and the leaves are turning bright colors of yellow.red and orange... I have forgotten what it was like to walk in the woods and have the blessing of color all around.............

I took my daughter to a pine tree farm and we cut a small one down for our Yule..... The best part was when we put a sapling in the ground. That was a gift all to its self!!! The  tree farm rules are great.... what you take you put back Wink.

How do you celebrate? .................................. joyfully    mrsburd

I have a little tree inside my house that i put a couple small things on it and made it look all cute. Its a little charle brown, its so adorable. Tine candycanes all over it, with small glass orbs. Its about the time of the year to go play in the smow with the sleds and play on the ice and once again try to skate, (but probley fail) And most importain of all getting the family together with a whole bunch of food. Oh i can't wait for the cookies!

Yumm   *thinking about the cookies*

Sounds great mrsburd.

Typical example in the UK is get the plastic Christmas tree up, arrange the prezzies 'round the tree, stuff the Turkey and then listen to everyone moan that they eat nothing but turkey for the next two weeks, pull some crackers, have the inlaws round, get drunk and realise you forgot to get the Trifle started and then kick everyone out of the house after boxing day night!

Only kidding, I am looking forward to Christmas day with my family, and spending tomorrow with some friends with a 3 course meal and wine, it doesn't get any better than that for me.  Cheesy
